One might not imagine “bassoon” and “pyrotechnics” in the same sentence, but the section of Telemann’s Tafelmusik featured on this evening is a true tour de force for the instrument! The Hikari Trio also makes its PCMF debut tonight in a performance of a tender piece by composer Michael Alec Rose, who will introduce the work from the stage. The program culminates in a performance of the Brahms Clarinet Quintet, truly one of the greatest works in the chamber music repertoire.
