Bridge Building & Trail Maintenance
Do you like to spend time outside hiking, biking and/or running in the Portland area? If so, this is the event for you! Join us on Wednesday, August 22nd at the Evergreen Cemetery Woods. We will be working with Portland Trails on a bridge building and trail maintenance project. If you haven’t been to the Evergreen Cemetery Woods, you have to come out to the event just to see this place. You will be blow away by this network of trails in the city limits! Portland Trails is a pretty incredible organization. They have a killer staff that works to create and maintain a 50-mile network of trails in Greater Portland. They use green space to “bridge” connections between people and places. In addition to maintaining the trail system, they engage participation of neighborhoods, schools, and the business community, in trail use and land stewardship. For more information about Portland Trails and their network of trails in the Greater Portland area, go to http://trails.org/. This website includes a great map of the trail systems, if you haven’t seen it already. A few of our favorite trails are the Presumpscot River Preserve and the Fore River Sanctuary! Additional information about the event: – No experience is necessary. Just show up and have fun! – We will provide water and snacks.
There will be a post-event gathering at the Great Lost Bear after the event where TAP participants can continue conversations with each other and connect with Portland Trails staff/volunteers.
For those of you interested in further involvement with Portland Trails, this will be a great opportunity to connect with staff members of the organization!
